Food in Borneo: Swee Kang Ais Kacang

If you're not from Kuching, and suddenly you get the chance to be here, among the must go to place is Swee Kang Ais Kacang. Why? For the fabulous ice kacang of course! They serve all sorts of ice kacang, air batu campur, whatever concoction that you can dream off (read: ice jagung served with santan and gula apong) well, they have it!

Swee Kang is located at Jalan Haji Taha (that's not far from Satok) and since most Sarawakians seldom remember their road names properly (they remember Kampong names or Areas better) then a good landmark would be that Swee Kang is right next to Thong Hin (a neighborhood supermarket) and right across SIDMA College (more popularly known as UNITAR or UniRazak for short i.e. Universiti Tun Abdul Razak).

I had ordered Ice Durian (a combination of durian, sweetened milk and ice). Their ice durian costs around RM2.50 per bowl.

Among the noted yummy desserts that they serve is Special (a concoction of watermelon, agar-agar, and various fruits with ice) or White Lady (another concoction of fruits with ice and lemon). For me, I usually prefer Kacang Merah Susu or just Ice Kacang. Swee Kang is the go to place for locals (especially young Malays) and you'll see a jam-packed cafe on sunny and hot days.

They also serve Rojak Sotong, Rojak Buah, Laksa Sarawak and Cha Kueh.

If you're in Sarawak, eat like the locals! You won't regret it!
